This week, we are tackling the Home Office Space. I refer to this space as “The Heart of the Home” because it is the space you need to manage things like mortgages, rent, utilities, insurance, taxes, income, expenses, and other crucial documents. I strongly believe that every home needs some kind of dedicated office space. This space doesn’t necessarily have to be a whole separate room either. Many families do not have an extra bedroom that can be used solely as an office. Get creative! Pinterest has a ton of ideas for small office spaces that leave you organized without sacrificing your space.
My husband pays the bills in our front bedroom which we have dedicated as the office. I’ll be honest…that space is NOT working. Functionally or organizationally. Our filing system is flawed and we need to rearrange to help the room flow better.
As I mentioned in the last post, when we moved in, we were solely focused on getting our stuff from Point A to Point B. Unfortunately, organization and functionality took a backseat. Because of that, we are now seeing how unorganized we are a year later! It makes a big difference in how your home functions. Ask my mom- she is amazing at organizing and our house drives her crazy! ha!
So…shall we get started?!

Moving into a new space is a pain. Honestly. Add in a toddler, a dog, two full-time jobs, anxiety, and just life in general and it makes it really hard to truly organize your house.
We moved in to our new house last December right before Christmas, after a very stressful sale of our previous house. My husband and I both took off a couple days from work to move all of our stuff into the new house. I’ll be honest, we have a ton of crap. We truly didn’t have nearly enough time to arrange and organize everything. We just wanted to get moved in and live life.
Now that we’ve been here for a little more than a year, we’re realizing how much clutter and crap we have! Plus, our stuff just isn’t functional and organized. You may feel the same way about your space!
For the next 7 weeks, join us on a Declutter Challenge! We’re going room by room to sort out the clutter, throw out the junk, donate or sell the excess, and organize the necessities.
Are you ready!?

Keeping a clean house is not always the easiest with kids running around. Believe me, I get it! Just ask the dust bunnies living in the corners of my house!
One of my goals this year is to get into a better cleaning routine to help alleviate some of the stress that comes along with cleaning house. Also, it frees up more of my time on the weekends and evenings so I can spend it doing things I want to do, like playing with my kids!
A couple weeks ago, we tried a new recipe from Erin Chase’s $5 Dollar Dinners. Cajun Chicken Fettuccine….YUM. This was one of the very first times we used a recipe that called for a homemade spice blend. Uh… what? We never thought about making our own spice blends! Totally crazy because it was amazingly easy and delicious.
Since then, I’ve been searching around for more spice blends. It’s amazing what you can make yourself, and, you can avoid weird ingredients and chemicals that you can’t pronounce. You know, those ones that we definitely shouldn’t be putting in our food.
Check out these 8 Spice Blends and Seasonings you can make at home!
With a second baby on the way, nursing is going to be making a comeback in my day-to-day life! This time around, I am working full-time and pumping will be a big part of my routine. I always get excited when National Breastfeeding Awareness Month rolls around because I know how many moms truly struggle with this aspect of motherhood and it is HARD. And mamas who don’t nurse, I still love you, too, and, support you on your journey of motherhood! You’re all amazing.
From my pictures and stories, it may seem like breastfeeding came so easily to me and my daughter. It sure started out easily in the hospital – perfect latch, ate like a monster, plenty of wet diapers. I was convinced something had to be wrong… it can’t be THIS easy can it? The answer? NOPE. It cannot be that easy. When we got home from the hospital, it was like my daughter totally forgot what the heck she was doing. Her latch hurt, she cried, I cried. It was a mess. I was exhausted and convinced I was doing something so wrong. Some days, I lost my determination to keep going and bottles looked SO appealing. My husband was and is my rock. His encouragement is literally one of the biggest blessings in my life. He saw me struggle and he knew I was struggling. I’m sure he thought it would be easier to just give bottles instead. But, he also knew how badly I wanted to breastfeed and he encouraged me to keep fighting for that. So I did. We did. My daughter did. And we succeeded. We finally got back into a groove and a routine. We had some hiccups along the way, but, we did it. We nursed until she was 2 years old and I am so proud! I think if I hadn’t gone back to work, she probably would have still nursed at least a couple times during the day and night for a bit longer. I have such a special place in my heart for my nursing mamas, whether you’ve nursed for 2 minutes or 2 years.
So, with National Breastfeeding Week wrapping up and it being Breastfeeding Awareness Month , I am so excited to show you some of my favorite products for nursing mamas and there’s an AMAZING giveaway thrown in here too ;) Woo hoo!
