Some people are just tough to shop for. Others, you don’t even think about getting a gift until you’re almost out of time. And sometimes, you just need some cute, simple gifts on hand for those unplanned situations!

I love practical gifts that people will actually USE. If you’re going to spend your hard earned money on a gift or devote some down time to crafting something, you might as well make it worth your while! Your wallet will thank you and so will the person receiving your gift!

Candles are one of my favorite things ever. I have a plethora of different scents for different parts of the year. When I was asked to try out Labor of Love Co.’s Soy Candle Making Kit (Retails at $25.00 + $5.00 USPS Priority Shipping)*, I jumped on the opportunity because it was right up my alley- easy crafting and quick. Both huge pluses with two little ones in the house and not much down time!

When the kit arrived, I loved how it was packaged- simple, yet it had some adorable finishing touches that stood out (especially the tiny clothespin!). Everything was organized and easy to identify and the directions were very straightforward. The instruction sheet also included photos so you could be 100% sure you were moving in the right direction- very helpful for those who have never done anything like this before.

The kit comes with everything needed to make two mason jar candles (8 oz each).

Included is:
– Step-by-step instructions with pictures
– Soy wax flakes
– 2 pre-tabbed wicks
– Fragrance oil: Honeysuckle Jasmine OR Apple Harvest
– (2) 8 oz. mason jars with lids
– Wooden stick
– 2 clothespins
– 2 handmade gift tags

Tools you’ll need:
– Small pot
– Glass or metal bowl
– Pot holder or a dish towel

The whole process barely took 30 minutes. The longest part is letting the candles harden overnight (24 hours is the recommended setting time).

Waiting for the water to boil; wax flakes are ready in a glass bowl for melting
Wax flakes are melting!
Wax has melted, fragrance has been added (Honeysuckle Jasmine), and everything has been poured into the mason jars to set.

The finished product looks pretty darn good and smells great too- not overpowering, but, still fragrant enough! I loved how quickly I was able to get these two candles made and clean up was a breeze, too. This would even be a perfect kit for kiddos who are a bit older and understand the dangers of stoves, hot liquids, etc.

The finished product!

If you’re looking for an easy, handmade, thoughtful gift, this DIY Candle Kit is an awesome choice!
