The first thing you have to do is to gather all ingredients you will need for the preparation of your homemade bathroom cleaning wipes. You can make a list in advance, so that you don’t have to go to the shop again.

What you’ll need is:

White vinegar

Essential oil of your choosing

Large container or big jar with lid

Pieces of cloth (the best part is that you can use some of your old t-shirts, sheets or other things to make the cloths- just make sure that all pieces have the same size)

Preparing the special blend
The next step is to mix together the ingredients, so that you can make a special cleaning solution. You can mix 1/2 cup of white vinegar with several drops of essential oil and water in some kind of vessel. If you are using a jar, you will have to arrange the pieces of cloth in the jar first and then add the special blend until the jar is almost full.

Placing the wipes in the clean container
In case you have a container instead of jar, you will have to soak each piece of cloth in the solution and then place it in the empty container until it becomes full. You can arrange your new bathroom cleaning wipes any way you like. You also have to make sure that the lid of the container closes well.

Cleaning and Maintenance
You can use your homemade wipes for the disinfection of pretty much everything. Whenever you want to remove old stains from toothpaste, shampoo or something else from the mirror or another part of your bathroom, you will have a reliable and effective cleaning product. When you finish with the cleaning, all you have to do is wash the pieces cloth and you can use them again.

Maintaining and cleaning your home, and more precisely your bathroom, can be a challenge sometimes. With the right cleaning supplies, however, this task will be easier than ever. The DIY bathroom cleaning wipes will remove any grime, especially different kinds of stains. If you want to make sure that this part of your property is also free from mold, you can add a couple drops of tea tree oil to the special blend for the wipes. Then, you can clean the area around the toilet, as well as all corners in your bathroom.

Making your own dishwasher detergent tablets is very easy. They will make cleaning your dishes a lot easier and will save you a lot of money in the future! You don’t need any special or very expensive ingredients. There are different recipes you could try, but, in this article we will present you with the ones that are the easiest and most effective. Washing your dishes will be easier than ever, if you decide to give these recipes a try!

  • Lemon dishwasher detergent tablets – Most recipes include the same or similar ingredients, so you can try making different dishwasher detergent tablets every time. If you like lemons, then you will certainly like this recipe!
    • You need:
      • 2 cups of baking or washing soda
      • ½ cup of Epsom salt
      • 2 cups of Borax
      • 1/2 cup of white vinegar
      • lemon essential oil
      • Put all ingredients together in some kind of vessel and mix them
      • When you are done, transfer the mixture into two ice cube trays
      • Press hard until each compartment is filled. Then, you have to let the tablets to dry, preferably in a sunny place, and not touch them until they are ready
      • You can then put them in a jar or some other container with a lid.
  • Lavender dishwasher detergent tablets – The recipe for the lavender dishwasher tablets is very similar to the previous one. However, you can substitute the Epsom salt with Kosher salt and add 1 cup of baking soda to the washing soda. You can also add 1 cup of citric acid and use OxyBoost instead of white vinegar. Instead of a couple of drops of lemon essential oil, you can use lavender essential oil this time. You can add also 2-3 tablespoons of water to the mixture. When you are done, just put the mixture in the ice cube trays and leave them to dry. You can store your new dishwasher detergent tablets in a big jar.
  • Borax-free dishwasher detergent tablets – Some people are worried when they see that their cleaning products contain Borax. Even though in small amounts the Borax is harmless, you can avoid any complications by simply excluding this ingredient from your recipes. The mixture of washing soda, baking soda, citric acid, white vinegar and liquid castile soap will be strong enough to remove everything from your dishes. Whether you add lemon, lavender, or another kind of essential oil to the mixture for your new tablets depends entirely on you.

As you can see, it is very easy to make your own dishwasher detergent tablets. The recipes don’t require a lot of time or any expensive ingredients, so there is no reason why you shouldn’t try them! You will see after the first washing that your dishes are perfectly clean and safe to use.

DIY Fabric Softener- Cheap & Easy!

In our effort to simplify our household, I’ve started making a lot of our own cleaning and household products! One of my favorites so far is the homemade fabric softener! Before finding this “recipe”, I would typically use dryer sheets (sometimes liquid softener). Not only do dryer sheets create more unnecessary waste for your household, the residue can begin to clog up your dryer- not ideal. Store bought liquid softener is usually full of chemicals or weird ingredients you can’t pronounce. For me, I want to use as many natural products as I can which is why this DIY Fabric Softener is my laundry’s new best friend :)

Taken from An Organic Wife (unfortunately, she is no longer blogging but you can find her on Facebook!)

Homemade Fabric Softener

3 cups distilled white vinegar
1/4 cup rubbing alcohol
15-20 drops of essential oil (I use lavender, but, you could use lemon, orange, tea tree etc.- anything fresh and appealing to you!)
Glass container (I use a mason jar)

Pour 3 cups white vinegar into your container. Next, add your essential oil drops and shake well. Lastly, add in 1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol and shake well again. You’re done! :)

For small loads, I use 1/4 cup of the mixture and fill the rest of my dispenser with water. For larger loads, I use 1/2 cup and fill the rest of my dispenser with water.

It is seriously THAT easy and quick. Another upside to this version is it lasts for a good amount of time before you need to make more. You can also experiment with each batch’s scent by trying different essential oils. Just remember to use something that you won’t mind being on your laundry- the scent isn’t strong at all, but, some oils are stronger than others!

Side note: make sure you label your fabric softener so no one mistakes what it is!

What are your favorite DIY household products? Let me know below! :)
