This week, we are tackling the Home Office Space. I refer to this space as “The Heart of the Home” because it is the space you need to manage things like mortgages, rent, utilities, insurance, taxes, income, expenses, and other crucial documents. I strongly believe that every home needs some kind of dedicated office space. This space doesn’t necessarily have to be a whole separate room either. Many families do not have an extra bedroom that can be used solely as an office. Get creative! Pinterest has a ton of ideas for small office spaces that leave you organized without sacrificing your space.
My husband pays the bills in our front bedroom which we have dedicated as the office. I’ll be honest…that space is NOT working. Functionally or organizationally. Our filing system is flawed and we need to rearrange to help the room flow better.
As I mentioned in the last post, when we moved in, we were solely focused on getting our stuff from Point A to Point B. Unfortunately, organization and functionality took a backseat. Because of that, we are now seeing how unorganized we are a year later! It makes a big difference in how your home functions. Ask my mom- she is amazing at organizing and our house drives her crazy! ha!

Moving into a new space is a pain. Honestly. Add in a toddler, a dog, two full-time jobs, anxiety, and just life in general and it makes it really hard to truly organize your house.
We moved in to our new house last December right before Christmas, after a very stressful sale of our previous house. My husband and I both took off a couple days from work to move all of our stuff into the new house. I’ll be honest, we have a ton of crap. We truly didn’t have nearly enough time to arrange and organize everything. We just wanted to get moved in and live life.
Now that we’ve been here for a little more than a year, we’re realizing how much clutter and crap we have! Plus, our stuff just isn’t functional and organized. You may feel the same way about your space!

The New Year always holds the promise of new goals, routines, habits, dreams. In 2013, only 8% of Americans successfully achieved their New Year’s resolutions. EIGHT PERCENT. Ouch.
I think we can all figure out a couple of reasons as to why so many of us don’t keep our New Year’s resolutions… We set unrealistic goals and unrealistic expectations for achieving those goals We don’t truly commit ourselves to achieving our goals and we try to tackle them alone
The first few weeks of the year, everyone has a new sense of life and how they want to start the New Year. Goals seem more attainable and we seem to have the entire year to tackle them! However, the weeks fly by and we start coming up with excuses and push our goals back…
“I’ll start tomorrow.”
“I’ll wait to start on Monday so I can enjoy the weekend.”
